Promising Practice Profiles

The Promising Practice Profiles are the product of a PPP process designed to identify and disseminate information about practices in the areas of early childhood, community development and early intervention that are likely to influence positive outcomes. The Promising Practice Profiles are intended to serve as valuable learning tools for policy makers, practitioners and service providers in these areas.

All activities and projects funded under the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy (SFCS 2004 - 2009) were eligible to submit practices incorporated within their activities to the Promising Practice Profiles during 2007 and early 2008. An independent panel of experts assessed submissions against a number of key criteria, in particular effectiveness but also including innovation, replicability, sustainability and a contribution to the existing evidence base.

Acceptance of practices for the Promising Practice Profiles does not necessarily imply that the associated programs and services are effective in term of their impact on children and families, or that they are the most effective or efficient way of achieving their objectives. Acceptance of practices for the Promising Practice Profiles should not be understood as an endorsement of the program or service from which the practices are drawn by either the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) or the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).
