Your involvement in the Stronger Families in Australia Study
After you first agreed to participate in the study, the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) sent you a letter. Prior to each wave of the study, our data collection agency, I-view, sent you letters advising when an interviewer would be in your area. Interviewers from I-view then made appointments for convenient times to conduct interviews in your home.
Participation in the study is voluntary and you can withdraw at any time.
During interviews you don't have to answer any questions that you do not feel comfortable with. However the success of the study greatly depends on valuable information provided by families like yours.
Interviews take around 45 minutes to complete. Interviewers are well-trained and ensure that the interview is conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The study is longitudinal, which means that information is gathered over a long period of time. The study is funded for three waves over three years, with the last wave in 2008. Through its longitudinal nature, we are studying the development of your child until just before he/she goes to school.
