Growing Up in Australia: the longitudinal study of Australian children was officially launched by The Hon. Kay Patterson, Minister for Family and Community Services at the Melbourne Museum on February 8th. The Minister's speech, delivered at the launch, provides some background information and the government perspective on this important study.


Minister Patterson gathers three helpers to officially launch the
Growing Up in Australia Study while families gather to listen to
the launch speeches on the rooftop garden at the Melbourne Museum.


Balloons were handed out to all children at the launch in the Growing Up in Australia colours.
Other giveaways included Growing Up in Australia colouring books, pencils and fridge magnets.


Ann Sanson, Project Director, Senator the Hon. Kay Patterson, Minister for
Family and Community Services, Dianne Gibson, Presiding Member of the
Board of Management at the Australian Institute of Family Studies, and
a group photograph of the team from the Growing Up in Australia study.


Families who took part in the preliminary stage of the
study help launch the Growing Up in Australia Study.
