Growing Up in Australia

For parents

Ongoing use of Medicare data
Now that the study is continuing for another four waves, we will be continuing to access the children's Medicare records, for which consent has previously been given. As always, the data will be treated confidentially, and no information will be included in the data set that would enable individual children to be identified. Further, only trends for groups of children will be reported using this data. Consent for this data access can be withdrawn at any stage, although we would like you to know that the Medicare data is very valuable and important for the study.

Life at 5

Growing Up in Australia is pleased to announce the return of the Life Series produced by Heiress Films. Life at 5 was screened on 15 and 22 February 2011 on ABC1. Visit the Life Series website for more information.

The two episodes feature the ordinary and extraordinary events of eleven children as they learn to deal with death, divorce and the day-to-day challenges of being a five year old.

The series draws on the experience of the Growing Up in Australia study and the Life Series families do the same interviews and activities as Growing Up in Australia families.

Wave 4 home visits

The fourth round of home visits for Growing Up in Australia has now finished. It has been another successful year for the study and interviewers from the Australian Bureau of Statistics have again enjoyed catching up with the families and seeing how the study children have grown!

Growing Up in Australia would like to extend our thanks to all of the study families and teachers that have provided their time to take part in this important study.

We've included some group photos of the Growing Up in Australia interviewers, see if you can find your interviewer!
