Inter Library Loans

Loans and photocopies of material from the AIFS Library can be provided to people other than the Institute's staff. Your own library will borrow from us on your behalf, so please contact them to make arrangements. The AIFS Library follows the Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing Code for procedures and charges - see below.

While the AIFS Library participates in many reciprocal schemes, it is not a participating library in the CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme or the Gratis Network.

Charges for Inter Library Loans

The Australian Institute of Family Studies Library (VIFS) will accept payment for Inter-Library Loans by Libraries Australia Document Delivery (LADD), ALIA vouchers, cheque, or credit card. We will invoice where necessary.

Our preference is that requests be placed through the Libraries Australia Document Delivery system with payments made through the Libraries Australia Document Delivery payments system.

The following rates are charged for Inter Library Loans. All charges include GST, except for overseas clients.

Core (Standard) copies supplied for retention - 4 working days

$13.20 for one photocopy of a journal article or chapter from a book. Extensive photocopying will be quoted.

$26.40 Ariel, Electronic or Fax delivery of photocopies (per article up to 30 pages)

Receiving Requests

Only requests stipulated EXPRESS or RUSH will receive extra fast processing. 'Urgent' requests will be treated as standard interlibrary loan requests. AIFS Library will accept Express or Rush requests through LADD. The requesting library must notify AIFS by telephone or fax that the request has been placed through LADD.

Lost Items - charges are replacement cost plus $22.00 non-refundable administration charge.
