have read the SFLEX "ethics made easy" documentation and understand that the project team will work with the Australian Institute for Family Studies to develop an action research evaluation proposal.

I understand that the SFLEX staff will train project teams on ethical issues for research, and that our evaluation will include and meet ethical considerations.

I agree that research will only be conducted when:

All those who participate in action research evaluation activities are fully informed about the purpose, nature, risks and benefits of the research in a plain language information statement.

Participation is voluntary. That is, people freely consent to participate in the project.

Protocols are in place to guarantee participants’ privacy and confidentiality and these are detailed in the information statement.

Protocols are in place for referring participants for further support if the research should lead to personal distress, including lists of agencies and telephone numbers for referral.

Our organisation has grievance procedures in place so participants are able to make complaints if they are unhappy with the research process or the research leads to disclosure of institutional mismanagement.

In projects where there is a serious risk that child abuse and neglect may be identified or disclosed by participants, the project has a policy and procedures for reporting child abuse and neglect should the research lead to a disclosure.

 

I agree that the organisation will only receive ongoing research support from AIFS when the above procedures are followed.
